Breakfast and a Bible Podcast: Easter as the Foundation and Launching Point for the Fruits of the Spirit

The cross displayed the deep and unconditional love of God, love that redeems us as individuals and the world as a whole and sets the stage for the coming of the Spirit and its transformative fruit.

Welcome back and thanks for listening! This week we consider the relationship between Easter and the fruits of the spirit in terms of how Easter manifested the powerful, redemptive, and reconciling love of God while also setting the stage for the coming of the Spirit that teaches us how to incorporate that love into every aspect of our lives as we grow in our faith. The love demonstrated on Easter allows us to love ourselves and each other honestly and free from the shame and guilt that have undermined relationships since Adam and Eve hid from God in the garden because they realized they were naked.

We focus on the intersection between Easter and the first five fruits of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness. Next week we will pick up with goodness. In advance of that, I invite you to consider what is goodness, why it would be a fruit of the spirit, and why Paul would position it between kindness and faithfulness. I would love to hear your thoughts on these questions if you are willing to share them. Feel free to leave them as a comment or send them to me directly.
